This morning, my friend Sarah Geringer released her new book, Transforming Your Thought Life: Christian Meditation in Focus. At a time when our public discourse is fraught with discord, anger and contempt, this excellent book is a reminder that we have the power to take every thought captive to change that narrative.
Here is a short review of Sarah’s book. I hope you’ll pick up a copy and discover new ways to transform your thought life:
Book Review
Self-talk either drags us down or lifts us up. Too often, we let the negative conversations in our head take priority in our thought lives. In her new release, Transforming Your Thought Life: Christian Meditation in Focus, Sarah Geringer teaches us how to tap into the power of scripture to set the negative thoughts aside and replace them with the healing, affirming, joyous words of God.
Sarah’s writing is relatable and instructive. In each chapter, she offers personal anecdotes to illustrate some of the toughest challenges we all encounter: self-critical thoughts, anxious thoughts, angry thoughts, unforgiving thoughts, to name just a few. Next, she provides a God-breathed alternative and several meditation verses to tackle the strongholds. Prayer and reflection questions follow.
I recommend reading Transforming Your Thought Life with a Bible by your side. Sarah’s narrative is chock full of scripture that you will want to study closely as you navigate this book. And if you’re wonky like me, you will enjoy reading the footnotes she peppers throughout – likely leading to a whole new collection of articles and authors to read!
Get this book. You’ll be blessed – I promise!
